CMS Students with Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) TECH mission- rocket launch and High Altitude Solar Balloon.

High Altitude Solar Balloon

CMS 6th grade students, along with the ScienceHeads program from Sandia National Labs, successfully launched one of the 4 High Altitude Solar Balloons (that were previously built in our mini-gym) from our CMS field.

This is such a unique opportunity, and we are the only middle school in the state creating and launching these solar balloons at this time!

These Solar Balloons are inflated through the Sun's energy and can fly up to 70,000ft high! Our balloon will continue to fly throughout the day today, deflating naturally as the sun sets.
